The “At the Woods” Retreat Center is the perfect setting for quiet prayer, deepening your relationship with God, rediscovering yourself, and gaining a new perspective.
Facility Overview
When staying at the Woods retreat center in Maria Stein, OH, situated within the wooded grounds, it’s easy to find God in nature. Originally opened in 1961 and rededicated in 2000, the two-level facility sits on 87 wooded acres, offering beautiful outdoor areas with walking paths and prayerful spaces with seating along the trails, including a Respect Life memorial, a Rosary walk, and outdoor Stations of the Cross. The Prayer Island and pond features a 40’ tall cross perfect for day or nighttime prayer services. There are numerous indoor and outdoor recreation areas, seating areas, and outdoor fire pits.
The entire facility is air-conditioned. The upper level is 33,070 Square feet, with 29,760 Square feet on the lower level

The Multi-Purpose room, which accommodates extra-large groups, is highly adaptable and can be configured to meet your group’s specific needs. Located beside the Montini Hall recreation room, your group can easily transition from group sessions to break time and evening fun.
Small breakout rooms are conveniently located in the adjacent hallway
The room features two interconnected Smart TVs and HDMI cables for seamless presentations

The building features six large meeting rooms for groups of any size, each of which can be configured to meet your specific needs.
We have 9 smaller rooms for group breakout sessions, and Montini Hall recreation room for downtime between sessions and evening fun.

Chapel
The chapel comfortably accommodates up to 100 people, providing a wonderful venue for worship gatherings. It is equipped with all necessary supplies for a Catholic Mass, including vestments, altar linens, and liturgical items. This ensures that both clergy and congregation can engage in the service with ease and reverence, fostering a truly uplifting spiritual experience.

We offer a range of guest room options to ensure your stay is enjoyable and relaxing.
60 Private rooms feature a private bath/shower and are located on the upper level
8 Jack & Jill rooms – these are two guest rooms that share one private bath/shower and are located on the upper level
5 Semi-private rooms are co-located in a short hallway. Each room has a full-size sink, and shares two hallway bathroom showers
All towels and linens are provided

Dorm Rooms
Our dorms accommodate up to 40 people in three separate rooms, each with windows that let in natural light, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. There are three separate bath/shower rooms offering a total of 8 private showers
