The Maria Stein Retreat Center, often referred to as the Retreat House, now has two locations in Mercer County, Ohio. Our Maria Stein location is about eight miles south of Grand Lake St. Marys. Our new Montezuma location is located beside Grand Lake.

- Healing Masses are held in Montezuma in our facility "at the Lake."
- The schedule is set for the second Tuesday in the months of March, April, May, September,
October and November. - The 2025 dates are March 11, April 8, May 13, September 9, October 14, and November 11.
Mass begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
- Answer: The Archdiocese of Cincinnati regularly offers the “Genesis” Marriage Prep retreat in Maria Stein, West Milton, Beavercreek, and Norwood. Dates are listed and updated regularly on
the Archdiocese website. No registrations or payments are accepted at any of the hosting
locations, these are simply where the retreats take place. Any questions about the retreat should also be directed to the Archdiocese Marriage & Family Office. - Here is the website link to register online for the retreat.
- Private rooms – feature either a full or queen size bed, desk and recliner, with a private bath. All bed linens and towels are provided.
- Jack and Jill rooms – two individual rooms furnished with a bed, desk and recliner, share one private bath accessible from both rooms. All bed linens and towels are provided.
- Semi-private rooms – private bedrooms with a bed, desk and recliner, share a common bath located nearby in the hallway.

- Yes! We welcome groups and individuals representing a diverse cross section of Christian faith traditions. As our Mission statement says: We believe in God the Creator, His Son Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, who guides us through the magisterium of the Catholic Church with its scripture and traditions and through the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
- Priests who are not from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are asked to provide a Letter of Suitability to the chancery before presiding for any Masses at the Retreat Center. This letter can be sent to [email protected].
The Maria Stein location has an elevator providing access to both levels with a handicap
accessible entry. The Celina location is a single level building with no stairs, and is handicap
accessible.

We are Christians dedicated to serving the Lord, each other, families, parishes, and communities. Through the Retreat Center, we provide opportunity for spiritual growth, social development and community service. We will do this through facilities, staff, and programs.

Volunteer
Thanks to our volunteers, we continue to be able to grow, develop, and serve. To become one of the "helping hands" at the Retreat Center, call the office to inquire about a specific area in which you would like to help. When you arrive at the Spiritual Center please sign the volunteer book located in the main lobby and record your hours. Each year we have a special appreciation dinner for all those who volunteer.

From the North:
Take I-75 South to St. Rt. 274, go West to St. Johns Road, go South, the Spiritual Center is on the West side of the road—look for the big cross.
From the South:
Take I-75 North to St. Rt. 119, go West to St. Johns Road, go North, the Spiritual Center is on the West side of the road—just past the Shrine.
From the East:
Take US 33 West to St. Rt. 274, go West to St. Johns Road, go South, the Spiritual Center is on the West side of the road—look for the big cross.
From the West:
Take I-70 East to St. Rt. 127, go North to St. Rt. 119, go East to St. Johns Road, go North, the Spiritual Center is on the West side of the road.
Directions to the Maria Stein Retreat Center
From the North:
Take I-75 South to US-33W (Exit 100 towards St Marys), take the Co Rd 33A exit to St. Marys, turn left on 66 South (3 mile), right on OH-219 W (9 mile) to the Spiritual Center of Montezuma on the right, before turning right at the intersection.
From the South:
Take I-75 North Exit 93 towards St Marys/Sidney, turn left onto 29 W for 11 mile, left onto OH-274, right onto 66 South, left on OH-219 W (9 mile) to the Spiritual Center of Montezuma on the right, before turning right.
From the East:
Take US-127 N, and turn right on OH-219 E. Destination is on the left.
From the West:
Take US-33 W, continue on Santa Fe-New Knoxville Rd until it becomes OH-219 W (14 mile), turn left on OH-219 E (5 mile), and the destination is on the left at the intersection.
